Satin Pothos - 4"
Satin Pothos - 4"
Scindapsus pictus, aka. the "Satin Pothos" is a stunning addition to your pothos collection. It's great for beginner growers, but is a timeless piece in anyone's indoor plant garden. The silvery variegation is hypnotizing to the eye and velvety texture of the heart-shaped leaves will draw the attention of many admirers. A hanging basket is the perfect way to watch this beauty grow.
Care: Be sure to plant in a well-draining soil rich in nutrients. The satin pothos likes bright, but indirect light. Do NOT expose to direct sun. Thoroughly soak once the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry, but don't allow the roots to sit in water and become waterlogged; that is a recipe for root rot. Feed about once every 3-4 weeks with a balanced fertilizer or compost tea.
Propagation: Our favorite method of propagating any pothos is via water. Simply take a 4-6 inch cutting below a node- the place where the petiole (section between the leaf and main stem) and main stem intersect- and place it in a glass of water, ensuring the node is submerged. After a few days/weeks, you will see roots start to grow at the submerged node! After the roots have grown a couple inches, simply plant it in a small pot (2-4 inches should suffice for a cutting) with your favorite well-draining potting mix, and you’ve got a brand new satin pothos plant!
