Philodendron Velvet - 4"
Philodendron Velvet - 4"
Philodendron hederaceum var. hederaceum, aka. the "Philodendron Velvet" or "Philodendron Micans" is a gorgeous species of aptly-named philodendron, characterized by the texture of its uniquely-colored foliage. Throw in the fact that it's a low-maintenance and a vigorous grower, this one is a no-brainer to add to your collection.
Care: As with most of our vining philodendrons, well-draining soil, bright, indirect light, and regular waterings are the key to growing this absolute stunner. It doesn't require heavy fertilization as long as you plant it in quality potting soil.
Propagation: Our favorite method of propagating any vining philodendron is via water. Simply take a 4-6 inch cutting below a node- the place where the petiole (section between the leaf and main stem) and main stem intersect- and place it in a glass of water, ensuring the node is submerged. After a few days/weeks, you will see roots start to grow at the submerged node! After the roots have grown a couple inches, simply plant it in a small pot (2-4 inches should suffice for a cutting) with your favorite well-draining potting mix, and you’ve got a brand new philodendron velvet plant!
