Monstera Adansonii Albo Variegated - 4"
The variegated Swiss Cheese Monstera 'Albo' is one of our most cherished of rare plants. It was, in fact, the plant that started our rare plant journey, and we still have our original cutting that has now turned into our mother plant!
Care: The care for the variegated swiss cheese monstera 'albo' is similar to that of the regular monstera adansonii, with a few differences. First, in order to keep that stunning variegation from reverting back to normal, you need a lot of bright, indirect light. Direct sun can scorch the leaves, so keep it out of sunny windows. Plant in a well-draining potting mix and water regularly, but not so much that the roots get waterlogged, or root rot will claim you precious rarity.
Propagation: Our favorite method of propagating the Swiss Cheese Monstera is via water. Simply take a 4-6 inch cutting below a node- the place where the petiole (section between the leaf and main stem) and main stem intersect- and place it in a glass of water, ensuring the node is submerged. After a few days/weeks, you will see roots start to grow at the submerged node! After the roots have grown a couple inches, simply plant it in a small pot (2-4 inches should suffice for a cutting) with your favorite tropical potting mix, and you’ve got a brand new Swiss cheese plant!
